This site is for anyone involved in the restoration of a project boat. Hopefully it will also be of help to anyone who does their own boat work There are many sources of information on specific topics of boat repair such as electrical, mechanical, fiberglass repair and so forth. This site is different in that I hope to fill the gaps between each of these disciplines and bring everything together for a complete project from beginning to end.

There are as many reasons for tackling a project boat as there are boats. Some folks dream of sailing around the world, while others simply dream of sitting at the dock while watching the sun set. For some money is not a problem, they simply want the challenge. Others lack the funds to purchase a fully found vessel and see a project boat as a way to obtain the good life. Whatever your reasons I hope to provide you with the tools to help you decide if this is the right path for you and if so how to find your way safely to the end, and successful completion of your chosen project.

The biggest failure in most project boats I have seen is that they never end. The owners work year after year without seeming to get any closer to the completion. It is not lack of effort that holds them back but rather lack of focus and a good plan. Having all the pieces will do you no good if you do not understand how to put them together. This site will help you avoid many of the common pitfalls and see the big picture so that the pieces fall together in the right order.

Why the Zen part? Zen is about understanding yourself so you can become a better person, to be able to help others. There are many aspects of a project boat that will test you, make you stronger, and hopefully give you a better understanding of yourself. You will then be able to help others on a similar path. It is a journey and like many journeys will offer you opportunities, success, and disappointments.

Having a guide will make things easier, hopefully I can help guide you, and save you some of the heartache and pain I and others have faced following this path.
